The Ashton Hotel is a historic boutique hotel in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas, but despite its history the interior is anything but out-of-date. That’s because the hotel believes in pushing forward modern technologies, and its latest initiative is to install OpenKey smartphone technology into all of its rooms.
Keyless entry into hotel rooms is hardly new. In fact, it’s a technology becoming so widely adopted that every single hotel room at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida has contactless entry using an NFC wristband given to all guests.
OpenKey lauds itself as the industry standard for universal mobile key access, and is designed to allow companies to add modern amenities to their luxury properties.
With OpenKey, guests can open their rooms using a free app that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or iOS App Store. The universal technology allows guests to manage their room check-in prior to arrival, call the front desk, confirm their identity with an ID capture for security and send their estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the hotel via the app.
“We’re proud of the timeless style created by the hotel’s perfect blend of historic charm and modern guest amenities,” says Dave Fulton, general manager of The Ashton Hotel.
“Implementing mobile key access is just one of the many ways we are creating an unforgettable guest experience at The Ashton Hotel.”
“We are excited to be teaming up with such a famous hotel in beautiful, downtown Fort Worth,” adds Brian Shedd, vice president of sales and marketing at OpenKey.
“We were able to implement OpenKey’s technology directly with the existing KABA locks. Our solution is compatible with the major hotel lock suppliers which makes deployment fast and seamless.”
